Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Epsilon Alpha Lambda Chapter, gives the Faulkner County and the city of Conway communities an opportunity to converse with those seeking an elected office in the midterm elections.
Conversations with the Candidates gives every day people a chance to interact in a casual setting with candidates. Midterm elections historically have a low turnout at the polls. This gives the candidates running for an elected office the opportunity to educate the community about their platform and interact with those that will be heading to the polls in November.
Alpha Phi Alpha’s national program, A Voteless People is a Hopeless People, was initiated during the 1930’s. Voter education and registration have remained a dominant focus of this outreach activity for over 65 years. In the 1990's, the focus has shifted to include political awareness and empowerment, delivered most frequently through town meetings and candidate forums. Alpha Phi Alpha is committed to advocacy within the community.
Conversation with the Candidates will be held at the Conway McGee Center, September 20, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. Voter registration forms and access to check voter registration will also be available.
