Allegiant Air will offer the flights between the Little Rock airport and Los Angeles International Airport on a seasonal basis. The flights first became available Thursday and will operate twice weekly through Aug. 16.

This is the first time direct flights between the two airports have been available to the public.

"We’re extremely excited that Allegiant Air will be adding nonstop service from Little Rock to Los Angeles," Ronald F. Mathieu, the Little Rock airport’s executive director, said in a news release. "For many years, our customers have asked for service to LAX, and we’re appreciative that Allegiant is making the investment into our community."
