LITTLE ROCK — Attorney General Leslie Rutledge got engaged over the Independence Day weekend, her office said Tuesday.

Rutledge, 39, and Boyce Johnson, 55, became engaged July 3, Rutledge spokesman Judd Deere said. The couple has not set a wedding date.

Rutledge and Johnson, a soybean farmer from Marion, have been dating since 2013, when they met at the Arkansas Farm Bureau’s convention. Neither has been married before.

A former attorney for the Republican National Committee and former Gov. Mike Huckabee, Rutledge was elected attorney general last November.
