LITTLE ROCK — A Benton man won $2 million Monday in the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery’s Play It Again drawing, lottery officials said.

Steve DePriest won the prize with a Gold Rush ticket he bought at Murphy USA on Interstate 30 in Benton. The ticket was not initially a winner, but DePriest entered it in his Play It Again Rewards Club account, and it was drawn Monday.

DePriest told lottery officials he initially thought his friends were playing a prank on him when he learned of the prize Monday, one day before his birthday. He said he intends to let the whole thing sink in for a while before deciding what to do with the money.

Proceeds from lottery ticket sales, after prizes and expenses, fund college scholarships for Arkansas students.
