WASHINGTON — Former President Bill Clinton will campaign next week in Arkansas for the Democratic ticket.

The two-day swing through Arkansas will begin Oct. 6 with a rally at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway followed by an afternoon rally in Jonesboro at Arkansas State University. On Oct. 7, Clinton will speak at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers.

"There is no one better than Bill Clinton at making the case to Arkansans about what’s at stake for the middle class in this election," said Democratic Party of Arkansas Chairman Vincent Insalaco.

The rallies will support Arkansas Victory 2014, the Democrats effort to get out the vote for the mid-term election on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Arkansans have until Monday, Oct. 6 to register to vote in the election. Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 20.

"There is no one better than Bill Clinton at making the case to Arkansans about what’s at stake for the middle class in this election," state Democratic Party Chairman Vincent Insalaco said in a statement. "President Clinton has always been able to connect with Arkansans on a personal level, and that connection makes him the best person to lay out why Arkansans need to get involved and not let out-of-state billionaires buy this election."

The party said Democratic Gov. Mike Beebe will attend the rally at Arkansas State University, his alma mater.

Clinton is coming to the aid of Arkansas Democrats after several nationally known Republican figures have campaigned in the state for GOP candidates, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The rallies are free and open to the public. Those wishing to attend can pick up tickets starting Tuesday at 9 a.m.
