FFO Home, the furniture factory outlet store, is moving its corporate headquarters and more than 60 jobs to Fort Smith from Muldrow.

The 30-year-old company is expected to move into 180,000 square feet of warehouse space purchased by Spartan Logistics from Whirlpool Corp. on Jenny Lind Road.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson made the announcement Tuesday at the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Tim Allen, president and CEO of the chamber, said about half of the jobs are corporate office jobs.

Fort Smith Building Inspector Jimmy Deer said the warehouse was one of the newer properties on the Whirlpool Corp. factory site, and the new tenants were required only to update the sprinkler system.

According to the FFO Home website, the original company Furniture Factory Outlet was founded 30 years ago to make special buys on "one-of-a-kind" product overruns, and buys factory direct products at close-out prices.

FFO Home currently has 36 stores in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas.

Spartan Logistics, a third-party logistics company based in Ohio, purchased the entire 619,508 square feet distribution building from Whirlpool in late September after leasing space from them for several months.
