LITTLE ROCK — Middleweight boxing champion Jermain Taylor of Little Rock was released from jail Tuesday morning following his arrest Monday, but on Tuesday afternoon a warrant was issued for his arrest on a bond revocation in another case.

Little Rock police arrested Taylor, 36, on Monday afternoon after Thelton Smith, 41, of Little Rock reported that Taylor fired a gun at him and pointed the gun at his wife and three children. Police said they found Taylor with a gun and marijuana on his person.

Taylor was booked into the Pulaski County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a minor in the third degree and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was released Tuesday morning on a $50,000 bond.

On Tuesday afternoon, Pulaski County Circuit Judge Leon Johnson signed an order revoking Taylor’s bond in connection with an Aug. 26 shooting in which Taylor’s cousin, Tyrone Hinton of Jacksonville, was wounded. A warrant for Taylor’s arrest was issued at 4:24 p.m. Tuesday, according to court records.

Taylor is scheduled to stand trial June 23 on charges of first-degree battery and aggravated assault in Hinton’s shooting.
