LITTLE ROCK — Officers with three Central Arkansas law enforcement agencies will share their reasons for serving in a public relations campaign called Behind the Badge, Little Rock public relations firm The Communications Group said Tuesday.

The year-long campaign will include television and radio spots, digital signs, bumper stickers and a website, www.arbehindthebadge.com. Eighteen officers from Little Rock Police Department, the North Little Rock Police Department and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office were interviewed on camera for the television and radio spots.

The Communications Group said it is conducting the campaign pro bono.

"The support we’ve received for Behind the Badge has been incredible," Dan Cowling, the company’s president, said in a news release. "Once we got the stories of these officers developed, we started asking for support from media and community leadership and just about everyone said yes."

State Sen. David Sanders, R-Little Rock, said, "Behind the Badge is not a campaign about a police department. It is not even about crime. Behind the Badge is about the untold story of the men and women who get up every morning, put on a uniform and a badge and put their lives on the line to keep our community, to keep us and our families, safe."

The campaign’s slogan is "Tell ‘em thanks."

"Our hope is that hearing their stories will inspire you to stop the next officer you see and tell ‘em thanks for keeping us safe," the campaign’s website states.
