LITTLE ROCK — A section of U.S. 71 in Little River County that had been closed since Friday because of high water was reopened Wednesday after the water receded, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

After state engineers inspected it and maintenance crews cleaned it, the 2½-mile stretch of highway between the Arkansas Welcome Center on the north side of the Red River and the intersection with Arkansas 380 at Ogden was reopened at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, the agency said.
