WASHINGTON — The Economic Development Administration is providing $1.6 million in grants to help Faulkner County communities recover from April’s devastating storm.

WASHINGTON — The Economic Development Administration is providing $1.6 million in grants to help Faulkner County communities recover from April’s devastating storm.


The grants include:


—$1.1 million to the City of Mayflower to construct critical water and sewer infrastructure along Interstate Drive to support business expansion.


—$300,000 to Central Arkansas Planning and Development District to hire additional staff to coordinate ongoing disaster recovery efforts in Faulkner County.


—$201,000 to the City of Vilonia to extend Industrial Park Drive to improve industrial and new business development.


The grants were announced Monday in a news release from Rep. Tim Griffin, R-Little Rock, and Sens. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., and John Boozman, R-Ark.


In late April, a deadly EF4 tornado with winds between 166 and 200 miles per hour left a 41-mile trail of destruction in central Arkansas, according to the National Weather Service.
