NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Federal authorities and local police announced arrests Thursday in a joint investigation of a major Central Arkansas meth distribution ring.

The arrests followed the Nov. 6 indictment of Tarik Bouhamidi of Austin, Johnny Ybarra of Dallas, Texas, and 19 others on drug and weapons charges, U.S. Attorney Christopher Thyer said.

Authorities allege Bouhamidi routinely traveled to Dallas to obtain large amounts of methamphetamine from Ybarra, and then arranged for the meth to be transported to Arkansas by hired couriers.

More than $66,000 in cash, nine vehicles, including two tractor-trailer rigs, firearms and 2.5 pounds of meth were seized in a joint probe conducted by local and state police in conjunction with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
