WASHINGTON – Arkansas Democrats will honor former President Bill Clinton, and raise some cash, at a fundraising event that will coincide with the Democratic National Convention next month in Charlotte, N.C.

"We are humbled that President Clinton will be supporting Arkansas Democrats in Charlotte," Arkansas Democratic Party Chairman Will Bond said in announcing the event Friday. "We thank President Clinton from the bottom of our hearts for a lifetime of service and commitment to a better Arkansas and America."

The $150-per-person event in support of Arkansas Democrats will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at The Westin Charlotte Ballroom. Clinton speaks the following evening at the convention. The convention concludes on Thursday, Sept. 6, with President Barack Obama once again accepting the Democratic presidential nomination.

Clinton received the party’s presidential nomination for the first time 20 years ago in New York City.

"In Arkansas, we face one of the most important elections in our lifetime — one that will define whether we continue the progress made under leaders like President Clinton and Gov. Beebe, or turn back and follow others who just want to say no to everything," Bond said.
