LITTLE ROCK — The state panel that disciplines judges has a new director.

The Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission has selected former Deputy Director David J. Sachar to succeed David A. Stewart, who retired as the panel’s executive director on Dec. 31.

Sachar had served as the commission’s executive director since August 2007, a month after Stewart was appointed the panel’s executive director.

The commission was created by constitutional amendment in 1988 to oversee the investigation and litigation of complaints filed against judges in the state. The panel is comprised of six judges, six lawyers and six members of the public.
