The Arkansas baseball team won its fourth straight game and kept Oklahoma State from getting its sought-after revenge, winning Tuesday night in Stillwater, 5-4.

The game was tied at 3 until the seventh inning when an error and a pair of singles pushed Oklahoma State (18-7) ahead. With the bases loaded for Jacob Chappell, he grounded into a double-play, but with no outs, it scored Collin Theroux. Oklahoma State added a final run in the eighth on a double-steal first-to-second and third-to-home.

Arkansas (18-7) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second after the Cowboys helped along with some of their own miscues. Cullen Gassaway singled and Rick Nomura followed with a fielder’s choice. But the ball was thrown away and Gassaway took third base while Nomura reached first. Luke Bonfield followed that with a single to score his first basman. A passed ball scored Nomura later and Michael Bernal’s double sent home Bonfield.

Oklahoma State’s No. 9 hitter, Theroux, responded the next inning with a three-run home run which tied the game.

Arkansas had a pair of opportunities to break the tie in the sixth and seventh innings, but failed to do so.

In the sixth, Chad Spanberger was up with the bases loaded and one out and struck out. Michael Bernal followed with a flyout to centerfield. Then, with one out in the seventh, Gassaway had the bases loaded when he grounded into a 1-2-3 double-play.

Carson Shaddy pulled Arkansas back within a run in the ninth with an RBI single that scored Tucker Pennell, who doubled to start the inning. With runners at first and second with one out, Gassaway struck out swinging and Nomura grounded into a fielder’s choice to end the game.

Blaine Knight started for Arkansas. He went two innings, giving up the home run to Theroux. Shaddy and Bonfield each went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Arkansas and Oklahoma State will play at Baum Stadium in a return game April 26. The Razorbacks return to Baum Stadium and Southeastern Conference play this weekend for a three-game series against Missouri.
