Arkansas trimmed a 20-point lead to single digits in the second half, but could not overtake Kentucky in women’s basketball Sunday afternoon, falling 77-63.


The loss is Arkansas’ sixth in its last eight games. Arkansas has two games left in the regular-season and could finish as high as fifth or as low as 11h. Arkansas is currently in 10th-place.


The biggest difficulty Sunday was shooting and keeping the Wildcats from the inside. Arkansas shot just 45 percent to Kentucky’s 49 percent and the home team scored 40 points in the paint to the Razorbacks’ 24. Kentucky jumped out early, leading Arkansas by 18 points at halftime.


Arkansas’ Jessica Jackson led all scorers with 18 points. Kentucky had three players in double figures, led by Makayla Epps’ 16.


Arkansas plays Georgia on Thursday in Athens and closes the regular-season against Ole Miss at Bud Walton Arena on Sunday.
